Why this gift
A gadget gets replaced in two years. An engraved metal pen gets used every day — signing permission slips, sketching deck plans, working the crossword — and every time he picks it up, it says someone paid attention.
Each one is machined from a solid bar of titanium, bronze, or copper in San Antonio, Texas, to tolerances under 0.001″. It patinas with use. It doesn't wear out. And his initials, a date, the thing he always says — burned into the metal, not printed on it.
It's not a pen. It's proof you noticed the man who notices everything.

What to engrave
Set in Univers — the same typeface as the brand — in the standard placement for each model. You tell us what it says. We handle how it looks. Keep it short; it's burned into metal.

Proof
“Gift for my engineer brother and NASA retiree who spent his life and career searching for the perfect mechanical pencil while I spent mine trying to discover a gift he would love. We both succeeded.”
“The weight of it and workmanship are without compare. It made the perfect gift for a very particular, hard-to-buy-for husband!”
“Got this pen as a gift for my father's birthday — and it was a huge hit! The quality was bar none and the option to engrave made it all too sweet.”
Questions
Yes — if you order by Sunday, June 14, 11:59 PM CT. That's the cutoff for us to engrave it, finish it, and ship it from San Antonio in time for June 21. After Sunday we can't promise it's in his hands on the day.
Add engraving at checkout and type what it should say. We set it in Univers — the same typeface as the brand — in the standard placement for each model, and burn it into the metal. Through Sunday night, it costs nothing on every order.
Three that always land: his initials with a date that matters; the coordinates of home; or the phrase he always says — “Measure twice” has been burned into more than one pencil here. Keep it short; it's burned into metal.
Cross $149 and The Notebook ($15) is added to your order automatically at checkout — no code, nothing to remember. The offer ends with the engraving window, Sunday at 11:59 PM CT.
Any pen or pencil can be returned within 14 days of purchase, for any reason — full refund or exchange. Engraved pieces can come back too; there's a $20 fee per engraved item, since his name is burned into the metal. And if we got the engraving wrong, the exchange is free. That mistake would be ours.
If he builds or fixes things, the titanium Grooved Pencil. If he writes, the Fountain Pen. You can't pick wrong — they're all machined from the same bar stock, to the same tolerances, in the same shop.
